I AM VERY BLESSED TO HAVE A SON WHO LOVES TO HUNT & FISH. HIS NAME IS HUNTER. HE IS 18 YEARS OLD. HE WENT ON HIS FIRST DEER HUNT WHEN HE WAS 2 YEARS OLD. WE WERE SUCCESSFUL, TAKING A NICE 9 POINTER.
HE STARTED CARRYING A BB GUN EVERY TIME WE WENT TO THE FIELD & OF COURSE EVERY DEER THAT DAD SHOT NEEDED TO BE “FINISHED OFF” WITH HIS BB GUN. AT 6 HUNTER TOOK HIS FIRST DEER. HE HAS TAKEN SEVERAL DEER SINCE, INCLUDING A NICE 8 POINTER AS WELL AS AN 11 POINTER A FEW SEASONS AGO.
HUNTER’S HUNTING DOESN’T STOP WITH DEER. HE BECAME A VERY GOOD SHOT AT AN EARLY AGE. HE GETS HIS SHARE OF SMALL GAME INCLUDING RABBIT, QUAIL, CHUKAR, & DOVE. HUNTER ALSO TOOK HIS FIRST TURKEY SEVERAL SEASONS AGO. AFTER BEING EXTREMELY PATIENT HE TOOK A NICE GOBBLER THAT WEIGHED 20 LBS. WITH A 9” BEARD.
HE HAS CAUGHT SEVERAL BASS & HAS BEEN USING A BAIT CASTER WITHOUT TOO MUCH BIRD NESTING SINCE HE WAS 10. WE WERE EXTREMELY BLESSED A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN HUNTER’S PAPAW GAVE US A TRIP TO ALASKA TO FISH. HUNTER CAUGHT A 42 LB. HALIBUT.
HE IS QUICK TO POINT OUT THAT IT WAS THE BIGGEST FISH BETWEEN THE TWO OF US BUT I WOULDN’T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY.
TO SAY I AM PROUD OF HIM & ENJOY OUR TIME TOGETHER WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I JUST WISH MORE KIDS WERE INTRODUCED TO THE OUTDOORS AT AN EARLY AGE. I KNOW IT HELPS THEM TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE.

The Rabbit Hunter
He had to shoot my rabbit with his BB gun to make sure it was dead.
This hunt cost me dearly as Hunter shot up over 5 boxes of .410 shells.
He had a blast when I put Chuckar out at the farm & took our German Shorthairs hunting. Hunter wore em out.
The kid can fish too

NOTHING BETTER THAN A DAY OF HUNTING WITH YOUR BEST BUDDY!
Hunter has been living with me now since August of 2009. I have really enjoyed the extra time we get to spend together hunting, fishing, working on the farm, & watching his ball games. His baseball team only lost 1 game all year for a record of 16 wins & 1 loss. Hunter played well.
He is now attending Marshall Academy & is playing football for the school. The Patriots finished their season with only 1 loss & it was a jamboree loss to Winston Academy a large school with a lot of kids that play football. Hunter had never played football but he’s catching on very well. He’s a starter on the offensive & defensive line & has made some awesome plays sacking the quarterback for a big loss. It was a lot of fun watching him play.
It’s not all fun & games & we have our times of disagreement as any parent with a teenager does but I am very proud of Hunter & am trying to raise a son that will be a fine young man when he grows up.

Hunter with our good friends, Lynn & Mickey at Snake Creek with 12 ducks taken on 1/15/11. It was the 1st time Hunter had shot a 12 gauge & now he’s trying to claim my gun.
Jr High Football Team went undefeated & won the district. Hunter got limited playing time but improved throughout the year as a 7th grader.

16 year old striking a pose I guess!
I guess I taught him too well because Hunter showed me up on this summer evening in 2014 but I'll get him back soon!
Look out the boy has a girlfriend & she can shoot. Life has changed forever.
Don't ask! I don't know where he gets it from.
